Akwa Ibomite shows readiness to cast their vote in the 2019 general elections as the Independent National Electoral Commission published totals number of voters with permanent voter card (PVCs) in the state.

According to the INEC statistics, 91. 21 per cent PVCs collected in the state at 1,933,362 out of 2,119,727 registered voters leaving 92,21 uncollected.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini promises the people of the state fair play in coming 2019 general elections. The commissioner was accused of working in favour of one political party in the state and demands for his immediate removal or redeployment from the state.

Igini during a press briefing gives reasons for the accusation as his commitment to conduct a credible, free and fair elections in the state.

He says "even for you to stand tall to do the right thing, you are attacked from right, left and centre by the worst one we have in the society".

"An election period is a period when free people are allowed to make a free choice on who should lead them", he added.

Moreover, The total number of PVCs collected across the ahead of the 2019 elections roundup at 72,775,502 as Lagos state claims the highest number of collected and uncollected PVCs followed closely by Kano state. As the statistics stand, four states with the highest number of voters for the 2019 general elections are;
    • Lagos       ---------------      5,531,389
    • Kano        ---------------      4,696,747
    • Kaduna    ---------------      3,648,831
    • Katsina    ---------------      3, 187,988
Lagos has the highest number of unclaimed voters cards; 1,038,902.
