The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) walk out on the federal government delegates led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.
The meeting was to end the industrial action of the union that started on November 4, requesting the FG to improved universities and implementation of 2009 agreement with the Union.
Ngige is yet to comment on the walkout by delegates of the union by its Nation President, Biodun Ogunyemi.
The FG was hoping to reaches an agreement with the striking lecturers before the walkout.
Ngige on the commencement of the meeting assured union of paying attention to issues of lecturers salary shortfall, improved universities funding and earned allowances.
The minister expressed shock that the issue of lecturers salary shortfall was still unresolved.
The union president last week said lecturers were waiting to hear from the FG over the promises it made at the last meeting. He said that the response from the FG will be the deciding factor whether to end the strike.
